Derrick Adams' new set of four Parlay prints continue his Mood Board series which are inspired by the American fashion designer Patrick Kelly (1954 - 1990). Among his accomplishments, Kelly was the first American to be admitted to the Chambre syndicale du prêt-à-porter des couturiers et des créateurs de mode, the prestigious governing body of the French ready-to-wear industry. Kelly's designs were noted for their exuberance, humor and references to pop culture and Black folklore. For this series, Adams adopted a printed dice pattern found in one of Patrick Kelly's women's clothing lines.
